Congee is an Asian rice porridge typically eaten for breakfast. It is cooked in the KRC-130 for about 90 minutes without salt and with plenty of water. Its flavors range from sweet and fruity to spicy. Congee is a simple, easily digestible meal. The (basmati) rice is cooked in water without salt until it has almost completely dissolved. According to Far Eastern nutritional theories (TCM, 5-element cuisine, or Ayurveda), congee provides Qi (energy, vitality, and a positive mood). The rice porridge is very easily digestible, so even sick people or infants can easily cope with it. It is a popular food during fasting diets because it places little strain on the body and digestive system, yet still contains important nutrients.
