Environment and Sustainability KeMar Kitchenware

Help us protect our environment and conserve valuable resources. Dispose of our products properly at the end of their life cycle to send them for recycling and thus make your contribution to environmental protection.

OUR ECOLOGICAL RESPONSIBILITY

Essential parts of our value chain are sometimes associated with significant environmental impact. KeMar Kitchenware aims to keep these impacts as low as possible.

This includes the development of energy-efficient products and the use of new and renewable energies. As an innovative family business, we are committed to making our products as environmentally conscious as they are functional – from preserving resources and manufacturing new, innovative products to ensuring they are easily recyclable at the end of their useful life.

Through environmentally friendly design, we ensure that energy efficiency, recycling requirements, and material restrictions are considered in the product development process. Aspects of consumption reduction and efficiency enhancement, in particular, are the focus of our development and innovation efforts.

KeMar Kitchenware constantly strives to produce innovative product solutions with fewer resources and to transform electronic waste into usable resources – by adhering to high environmental standards in development and production.

We agree with our suppliers on compliance with general environmental standards, prohibitions of particularly environmentally harmful substances, and declaration obligations. At the same time, we encourage our suppliers to actively switch to environmental management and thus create a sustainable supply chain. When choosing new suppliers, we check their willingness for resource-efficient production and the scope of environmental measures.

For our products, we increasingly use reusable, untreated, and thus environmentally friendly materials, whose harmlessness we continuously test and ensure by recognized testing bodies. All products are tested according to the standards and specifications of the Food and Feed Code (LFGB).

The following measures have already been implemented or will be implemented promptly as sustainability projects:

1) Packaging / Cardboard boxes

  • Gradual transition to at least 80% recycled cardboard boxes and packaging, this has already been successfully implemented for the following products: recycled cardboard boxes for KRC-130, KRC-190, KSB-200 series, KSB-300 series, KHF-350, KFH-550, KSM-1000, KSB-100G, KFS-3000, KRC-100, KRC-200, KRC-300, KRC-175, KCC-280, KHF-550, KFS-3000, KEM-117, KPO-220, all accessories and all bamboo products. By using recycled material, we save approx. 20% water, 50% energy, and 60% air pollution.
  • Printing ink for packaging is mineral oil-free and based on renewable raw materials
  • Successive reduction and avoidance of plastic packaging and use of alternative raw materials. Our goal is to continuously largely eliminate plastic padding in the form of styrofoam in our packaging.

2) Energy / Electricity:

  • For our logistics warehouse in Ismaning, we use regionally generated green electricity. This comes 100 percent from environmentally friendly hydropower plants on the Bavarian Inn, does not require fossil fuels for its production, and therefore does not generate CO2. Further information here.
  • Our notebooks, mobile phones, and rechargeable batteries are charged by solar energy via solar panels during the summer months and are thus CO2 neutral.

3) Paper / Printers

  • For years, we have been working on the vision of a "paperless office." Through the continuous use of digital archiving and communication media, paper printouts from printers have been reduced by more than 90%. For example, customer invoices are only sent by email, and we only receive supplier invoices by email as PDFs.
  • Our goal is to reduce environmental pollution and minimize paper use. Should something still need to be printed, we naturally use recycled paper. Double-sided printing also reduces paper consumption. Letters and faxes have been successfully converted to emails.

REUSE CARDBOARD BOXES INSTEAD OF RECYCLING

KeMar Kitchenware is aware of its environmental responsibility, which is why we specifically purchase shipping packaging that has faulty prints or cutting errors and would normally be "sorted out" by shipping box manufacturers.

A shipping box that is used twice clearly improves the energy balance of the box (and the company!) and reduces packaging waste. The effect is an environmental relief while optimizing costs and lower shipping costs for our customers.

EMISSION REDUCTION WITH OUR SHIPPING PARTNERS

DPD KeMar Kitchenware

  • DPD transports 3 million parcels – every day. Shipping parcels generates a significant amount of CO2: 90% of emissions are caused by the actual transport. These emissions cannot currently be fully economically avoided. Nevertheless, we want to live up to our environmental responsibility. You can find more information on this topic here.KeMar Kitchenware Environment Sustainability
  • Planet Team for every shipment E-commerce deliveries have a carbon footprint. That's why we support leading companies that remove carbon from the air. Together, the participating companies have removed more than thousands of tons of carbon from the atmosphere. Here's how it works: For each order we receive, a formula is used to calculate the estimated shipping emissions. Based on these estimates, a portion of our sales goes to carbon removal companies, such as those selected by scientists from Carbon Direct. These companies use this money to offset the carbon generated by our shipments. Any additional funds are invested in the further development of carbon removal technologies.KeMar Kitchenware Shipping
