BPA-containing polycarbonate plastics are found in many everyday products, such as reusable beverage bottles, can linings, and food containers. When such containers are heated or used improperly, traces of the substance can migrate into the food stored in them.

Responsible Material Selection at KeMar Kitchenware

KeMar Kitchenware consistently avoids components made of BPA-containing polycarbonate (PC) in all its kitchen appliances – including multi-cookers, rice cookers, blenders, and sous-vide/slow cookers.

Our material alternatives:

  • Polypropylene (PP): For our multi-cookers, rice cookers, sous-vide cookers, and the housing of the KHF-550 air fryer, we use polypropylene (PP). This plastic does not require plasticizers and is manufactured without Bisphenol A. Polypropylene meets all strict requirements for food contact, is odorless and tasteless, and is dishwasher-safe.

  • Tritan® (Eastman): For the blending jars of the KSB-200/300 blender series and the lid of the KSB-300, we use BPA-free Tritan®, a plastic developed by the US manufacturer Eastman Chemical Company, which is also used for baby bottles due to its robustness and purity.

  • Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE): For specific components such as the lids of the KSB-200/M series and the handle of the KSM-1000, we use TPE. This material is free from problematic plasticizers, BPA, silicone, latex, heavy metals, or oils, and is resistant to discoloration.

  • Steamer Components:

    • KFS-3000: All components that come into direct contact with water or food are completely BPA-free. The water tank, turbo ring, and steaming baskets are made of SUS304 stainless steel.
