Preparing rice in a rice cooker with a stainless steel pot is based on a different principle than conventional rice cookers with an aluminum pot. The inner pot is made of rust-proof SUS304 18/8 stainless steel. Stainless steel is 100% recyclable and can be reused. Stainless steel is strong and shatter-proof, making it durable. At the same time, it is particularly lightweight, and the weight of the inner pot is negligible. A stainless steel pot does not release any harmful substances into the food and is flavorless. It is also particularly resistant to germs. Stainless steel is easily recyclable and therefore more ecologically sustainable than many other materials.

You'll be purchasing a great product; according to current knowledge, contamination from harmful substances is eliminated when preparing food in a stainless steel pot. Besides the advantages, there are also a few minor disadvantages to using a stainless steel pot:

1) For people who are allergic to nickel, the use of stainless steel tableware can be problematic, as the material contains a proportion (approximately 8%) of nickel.

2) Due to the lack of a coating, starchy rice forms a crust on the bottom of the pot. This can be easily removed by soaking the rice in water and then rinsing.

3) Foam from unwashed or very starchy rice may escape through the steam vent in the lid. Therefore, wash the rice thoroughly before cooking to minimize foam formation. If foam does escape, place a dishcloth in front of the rice cooker to catch any splashes.

Why should I choose a rice cooker with a stainless steel inner pot?

Unlike Teflon or ceramic coatings, stainless steel is extremely durable and cannot scratch. It is the healthiest way to cook, as no chemical substances can get into the food.

Does rice stick in the stainless steel pot?

Since stainless steel does not have an artificial non-stick coating, rice may stick minimally. Tip: Wash the rice thoroughly before cooking to remove excess starch, and add a small splash of oil or butter to the water. After cooking, let the rice rest in warm mode for 5–10 minutes – it will then detach perfectly from the bottom.

Is the KRC-200 also suitable for rice pudding?

Due to the high heat development in rice cookers, milk tends to boil over and burn. We recommend the KRC-200 primarily for water-based cooking of rice, quinoa, or grains.

How do I clean the uncoated pot?

If rice residues stick to the bottom, soak the pot briefly in warm water with a little dish soap. Since there is no coating, you can also use the rough side of a sponge if necessary, without damaging the pot.

HOW LONG DOES THE KEEP-WARM MODE RUN AFTER THE REGULAR COOKING TIME?

After cooking, the rice cooker automatically switches to keep-warm mode. This keeps the rice warm at approximately 70°C for a maximum of 12 hours and then switches itself off for safety reasons.

IS THE INNER POT DISHWASHER SAFE?

Yes, the pot is dishwasher safe, but we advise against it, as the aggressive cleaning salts in dishwasher tabs can damage the stainless steel. We recommend cleaning with lukewarm water and some dish soap and a soft sponge.

DOES THE RICE COOKER HAVE A SEPARATE ON/OFF SWITCH?

Yes, the rice cooker has a separate ON/OFF switch. The power cord can remain in the socket.

WHAT TYPES OF RICE CAN I PREPARE IN IT?

You can prepare all types of rice in the rice cooker: sushi rice, sticky rice, Thai rice, short-grain rice, brown rice, white rice, rice porridge, jasmine, basmati, and even rice pudding. For rice pudding, it must be noted that the milk can foam over during cooking, so we recommend leaving the lid open during preparation and monitoring the cooking process the entire time.
