Making porridge without milk. It's true that making porridge or dishes with milk (rice pudding, etc.)—generally with all multifunction and rice cookers—is very difficult, as the milk tends to foam over during cooking.

Of course, you can avoid the problem of milk boiling over by using water instead of milk.

1 measuring cup of oat flakes e.g. from DM

3 measuring cups of water (approx. 180 ml per measuring cup)

You can also use the automatic rice cooker to prepare English-style porridge. To do this, keep the lid open. You'll need to stir the porridge regularly during cooking.

Note: Instead of pure oat flakes, you can also use a 1:1 mixture with rice flakes.

Warning: Do not add ingredients that may foam during cooking (e.g. milk, cream, egg) to the appliance.

1. Measure 1⁄2 to 1 measuring cup of oatmeal (90 to 180 ml).

2. Briefly rinse the oatmeal in a colander under running water. Then let it drain.

3. Place the oats in the pot insert and fill with the correct amount of water. Add approximately 3 cups of water for every cup of oats.

4. Let the oatmeal soak in the water for 1⁄2 to 1 hour.

5. Make sure the inside of the heating tray and the outside of the pot insert are clean and dry.

6. Place the pot insert into the heating tub and turn on the appliance. To do so, select the "Porridge" program in the menu.

Leave the device cover open.

Warning: The edge of the pot insert becomes very hot during operation.

7. Stir gently and regularly during preparation, taking care not to spill anything. If porridge spills over the edge of the pot insert, wipe it up immediately with a clean, slightly damp cloth.

8. When the porridge is ready, turn off the appliance, unplug it from the power outlet and serve immediately.

Note: Do not keep the porridge warm for a long time.
