Preparing rice in a rice cooker with a stainless steel pot is based on a different principle than conventional rice cookers with an aluminum pot. The inner pot is made of rust-proof SUS304 18/8 stainless steel. Stainless steel is 100% recyclable and can be reused. Stainless steel is strong and shatter-proof, making it durable. At the same time, it is particularly lightweight, and the weight of the inner pot is negligible. A stainless steel pot does not release any harmful substances into the food and is flavorless. It is also particularly resistant to germs. Stainless steel is easily recyclable and therefore more ecologically sustainable than many other materials.

You'll be buying a great product, and according to current knowledge, exposure to harmful substances is eliminated when preparing food in a stainless steel pot. Besides the advantages, there are also a few minor disadvantages to using a stainless steel pot:

1) For people who are allergic to nickel, the use of stainless steel tableware can be problematic, as the material contains a proportion of nickel (approx. 8%).

2) Due to the lack of a coating, starchy rice forms a crust on the bottom of the pot. This can be easily removed by soaking the rice in water and then rinsing.

3) Foam from unwashed or very starchy rice may escape through the steam vent in the lid. Therefore, wash the rice thoroughly before cooking to minimize foam formation. If foam does escape, place a dishcloth in front of the rice cooker to catch any splashes.

How many people can the KRC-175 feed?

The KRC-175 has a capacity of 1.4 liters, which is equivalent to about 7 measuring cups of uncooked rice. Depending on the side dishes, this is enough for 1 to 4 people.

How does the steaming function work?

Pour some water into the inner pot and place the steaming insert with vegetables or fish. Select the “Steaming” program. The hot steam gently cooks your food.

HOW LONG DOES THE KEEP WARM MODE RUN AFTER THE REGULAR COOKING TIME?

After cooking, the rice cooker automatically switches to keep warm mode. This keeps the rice warm at approx. 70°C for a maximum of 12 hours, after which it switches itself off for safety reasons.

IS THE INNER POT DISHWASHER SAFE?

Yes, the pot is dishwasher safe, but we advise against it, as the aggressive cleaning salts in dishwasher tabs can damage the stainless steel. We recommend cleaning with lukewarm water and a little washing-up liquid and a soft sponge.

DOES THE RICE COOKER HAVE A SEPARATE ON/OFF SWITCH?

Yes, the rice cooker has a separate ON/OFF switch. The power cable can remain in the socket.

WHICH TYPES OF RICE CAN I PREPARE IN IT?

You can prepare all types of rice in the rice cooker: sushi rice, sticky rice, Thai rice, round grain rice, natural rice, brown rice, white rice, rice porridge, jasmine, basmati and even rice pudding. For rice pudding, please note that the milk will overflow during cooking, so we recommend leaving the lid open during preparation and monitoring the cooking process the whole time.
