CLEANING FUNCTION (PULSE)

Why is the blender jug ​​made of TRITAN® plastic and not glass?

The blender containers in high-performance blenders are typically made of TRITAN® plastic. Compared to glass, TRITAN® is food-safe, shatterproof, impact-resistant, heat-resistant up to 140°C, and very lightweight.

High-performance blenders generally come with hard plastic jars, as these can achieve significantly higher speeds than a conventional blender with a glass jar. The hard plastic of the Tritan jar is significantly more elastic and therefore counteracts the forces acting on the surface at speeds of up to 30,000 rpm. If the jar were made of glass, the glass would shatter when mixing harder ingredients because it would not be able to counteract the forces that occur during high-speed blending.

With their hard surfaces, nuts, beans, and grains can leave micro-scratches in the plastic, causing the blender container to appear cloudy over time. Following the cleaning instructions below will keep wear and tear to a minimum, but they can never be completely avoided.

HOW DO I CLEAN THE TRITAN® BLENDER CONTAINERS?

The substances and minerals contained in various foods can leave a film of dirt on the inside of the blender container after repeated use. The containers may discolor or become cloudy and cloudy.

We therefore recommend theTRITAN®-Clean the mixing container at regular intervals.

• If you are processing mainly carotene-rich foods such as carrots, peppers or tomato paste, or have used strongly colouring spices such as turmeric, wiping the container with a little cooking oil is usually sufficient.
• When grinding grains, beans, rice, sugar, nuts, and pulses, the container will become permanently cloudy. Some green vegetables, spices, and protein powders can also cause this cloudy appearance. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect the functionality of the container. Please note that any resulting cosmetic changes are not covered by the warranty.

There are various methods to remove the discoloration in the mixing container:

• Half-fill the mixing container with warm water and add three tablespoons of vinegar essence. For even greater effectiveness, you can also add a teaspoon of baking soda. Let the mixture sit for about 2-3 hours. Then rinse thoroughly with water.
• You can fill the mixing bowl halfway with warm water and add baking soda. Let the baking soda work for about an hour, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.
• Alternatively, you can fill the mixing container halfway with warm water and add two to three denture cleanser tablets. Let the denture cleanser work for about an hour, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.
• For an environmentally friendly cleaning, use the juice of one lemon and two to three tablespoons of baking powder or baking soda. Half-fill the container with warm water and add the ingredients. Let the blender run in PULSE mode for about 10 seconds. Then empty the container and clean the inside with a soft, non-scratch sponge. Rinse the container thoroughly with water.
• Alternatively, you can simply place the container outside in the sun with a little lemon juice. After a few hours, the sun, together with the citric acid, will bleach the deposits.

ARE THE CONTAINERS DISHWASHER SAFE?

The TRITAN® mixing containersPlease do not clean in the dishwasher, as the blades cannot be removed from the blender container and the cleaning salts and rinse aid can damage the TRITAN® containers.

The knife insert would suffer in the dishwasher, as the blades are very sensitive to acidic foods and salty dishwasher detergents. This would damage them over time.

In addition, rust deposits, which can detach from other metal parts in the dishwasher, can build up on the knives and damage them. Therefore, carefully clean the blades after use with warm water and a little mild dish soap.

The raw material TRITAN® is a modern, high-quality, and extremely durable material that can be easily cleaned even at high temperatures up to 100°C. Only its mechanical properties deteriorate over time.

Cleaning in the dishwasher can cause premature stress cracking. We therefore recommend cleaning by hand rather than in the dishwasher.

The dishwashing detergent and rinse aid cause a gradual degradation of the polymer, which is associated with a reduction in mechanical strength.

The use of harsh cleaning agents, especially rinse aid, can significantly reduce the number of cleaning cycles, as unsuitable cleaning agents can severely impair the mechanical strength of the plastic. Overly high cleaning agent dosages or excessively high alkali concentrations can also cause premature cracking. Always use a gentle cleaning agent and clean the containers by hand under running water with a mild dish soap. Generally, cleaning agents should be specifically designed for TRITAN® to prevent premature stress cracking. Rinse the containers with clean water until they are greenish.

WHY ARE THE BLADES NOT SHARP?

Without sensible and practical knives, the ingredients cannot be chopped perfectly. Therefore, both their sensible arrangement and good cutting quality are important – whereby the knifeneither too sharp nor too bluntA seemingly blunt knife does not automatically indicate a quality defect!

If you run your finger over the blades, you'll notice that you won't cut yourself. This is because the blades of high-speed blenders are blunt-ground, meaning the blade chops the ingredients through high speed rather than sharpness.

As mentioned above, sharpness isn't the deciding factor for blender blades. This is obviously different for kitchen knives or regular blenders without high speed, but a high-speed blender isn't meant to chop the ingredients, but rather to blend and "liquefy" them. Due to the high rotation speed of powerful blenders, relatively blunt blades actually produce better results because they offer a larger "surface area" for the ingredients. The ingredients aren't cut into pieces, but rather liquefied into a paste by the impact speed.

WHAT MATERIAL IS USED FOR THE DRIVE SPINDLE AND THE MIXING CONTAINER DRIVE?

Because a high-performance blender is subjected to enormous forces, we use metal instead of plastic for the drive spindle housing and the blender jar drives. This ensures increased durability, as metal is less susceptible to wear than plastic, for example.

WHY DO THE LIDS AND CONTAINERS SMELL AT FIRST?

When you remove the containers and lids from the original packaging, you will notice a more or less strong "plastic smell." This comes from the Styrofoam and plastic packaging of the KSB-200 / M.

Lid:

To remove the initial odors, you can also clean the two lids in the dishwasher. However, it's usually sufficient to clean the lids with dish soap and warm water. The odor will disappear on its own after you've used the containers and lids a few times.

The lids (black) are made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomers) and contain neither problematic plasticizers nor BPA, silicone, or latex. They are free of heavy metals and oils, discoloration-resistant, germ-reducing, and vegan.

The containers are made of shatter-proof Bisphenol-A (BPA)-free TRITAN®.

The colorless plastic TRITAN® is tasteless and odorless and very durable. The material contains no plasticizers such as BPA (bisphenol A) and is very easy to clean.

WHY DOES THE ENGINE SMELL WHEN STARTED?

When you first start using the mixer, you may notice an “electronic smell” caused by residues of the anti-corrosive resin layer between the carbon brushes and the electric motor winding.

Electric motors require a corrosion protection coating to ensure trouble-free operation. Depending on their location and operating mode, electric motors are exposed to varying degrees of extreme environmental influences. In the case of a high-performance mixer, these include humidity and very high operating temperatures.

Good corrosion protection is crucial for the quality and service life of the electric motor.

All electrically conductive parts, such as the winding, are protected against corrosive influences by a resin coating that meets the required electrical properties. The same applies to the electrical connectors and terminals.

This measure prevents the formation of rust on the surface of iron-containing parts and protects the latter against the penetration of moisture and water.

When the high-performance mixer is first used – especially under high load – very high operating temperatures arise on the winding and the electric motor at around 30,000 rpm. Especially when the motor is still new, traces of protective resin may still be present between the carbon brushes and the motor winding. The resulting heat and the friction between the carbon brushes and the winding create this odor, which is perceived as "electronic odor." The odor will fade over time as the protective layer on the carbon brushes is gradually worn away during use. Depending on the thickness of the applied protective layer, it may take some time for the odor to subside and disappear.
