No, the steamer insert is not dishwasher-safe, as the aggressive cleaning salts in dishwasher tablets will damage the material. We recommend cleaning it with lukewarm water, a little dish soap, and a soft sponge.

Yes, rice can be cooked and steamed simultaneously. The steamer insert on the KCC-280 sits on the inner rim of the pot.
