CHARACTERISTICS

Bamboo is a natural product and dimensions, shape and color/grain may vary.

We eliminate around 50% plastic from our KeMar Kitchenware lunchbox set, making this possible because we use cellulose. The material is reusable, food-safe, and contains no heavy metals or other chemicals. Unfortunately, due to the strength of the material, it's currently not technically possible to completely eliminate plastic. Therefore, we use polypropylene. Baby bottles and pacifiers, for example, are also made of polypropylene, as it can be used safely according to current scientific knowledge, as it does not contain plasticizers such as BPA.

BAMBOO – A SUSTAINABLE RAW MATERIAL

Bamboo is a type of grass that grows woody and is not a tree in the true sense of the word. Growing up to 1 meter per day, bamboo produces more oxygen than any other plant in the world. In just six months, bamboo grows to its maximum size of up to 40 meters, reaching a diameter of up to 40 cm. Harvesting occurs after approximately four years.

Bamboo grows in tropical countries, and Asia is currently the main importing country. Bamboo cultivation is largely small-scale, with small-scale farming remaining the sole domain. Bamboo grows primarily in mountainous regions, where it is primarily harvested by hand.

Because bamboo grows extremely quickly, large quantities can be felled annually without endangering the population. New bamboo constantly grows from the root system.

Hardly any fertilizers, pesticides, or artificial irrigation methods are used in bamboo cultivation because the plants are very resilient and robust.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Do not expose to open flames. Not dishwasher or microwave safe. Do not pour hot liquids into the container, and do not heat it. Hand wash only with a mild detergent. After each use, clean with lukewarm water and a little detergent and dry thoroughly. To extend the lifespan of bamboo, it should be treated regularly with high-quality vegetable oil.

IS THE BAMBOO CONTAINER AND LID DISHWASHER SAFE?

The container and lid are dishwasher-safe or microwave-safe. However, we advise against this, as the aggressive cleaning salts in dishwasher tablets can damage the material. We recommend cleaning with lukewarm water, a little dish soap, and a soft sponge.
